How to write a proposal

The easiest way to write a proposal is to use the Microsoft Word CUESEF template. However, don't feel you have to be restricted by it, if you want to add something, change something, or write a completely different proposal, please do but make clear the following points:

  • Who are you? Include the lead student, number of other students and faculty representation
  • What do you want? Outline the items you wish to purchase, why you would like those particular items and how this will further you project
  • What is the impact of this purchase? Include information like the life expectancy of the purchase, the academic benefits of the purchase and the benefits to Carleton Engineering
  • Who is going to take care of it? Let us know where any maintenance costs will be acquired, or other variable expenses like paper and ink
  • Are there any other funding sources? You can include this in the budget section of the proposal

Still not satisfied with your proposal?
