"Engsoc Project": CUESEF Contribution to Engsoc
Internally to the CUESEF board, we called this the "Engsoc Project", but
we by no means are the initiators of
Engsoc - there is a large group of
volunteers to thank for that - especially those on the Engsoc Board of
Governors. The proposal was made during the Summer of 1995 by several
people (James Chow, Sean Hay, Alex Devries, James Carriere and others).
The proposal was a request for funding of the purchase of a Pentium
(computer) system (with lots of goodies) to be the main server for Engsoc.
The original request can be found here.
Here are some stats:
- Proposal by: Engsoc Board of Governors
- Amount requested: $4600
- Number of students Affected: ~1400 (all undergrad students)
- Engineering disciplines affected: All
- "Life" of contribution: 2-3 years (estimated)
- Date operational: September 1995
