Contribution
Each term, every Engineering student, as part of their fees, gives $25.00 to the CUESEF endowment fund. Every single penny is locked in the endowment. The money that is given out each term comes from the interest driven by the principle in the endowment handled by the Department of University Advancement.
Amount given out
Currently, there is approximately $25,000 available to be given out each term for Capital Purchases. Each year that amount will go up as the principal grows and generates more interest.
What to request, and what not to request
CUESEF's mandate is to provide Carleton Engineering with funding to assist student groups with funding for equipment to help further their contribution to Engineering at Carleton. Below are examples of potential requests, and requests that will not be funded:
- Photocopier
- Printer
- Parastatic Pump
- Pliers
- Printer Fees
- Glue
- Oil
- Labour
The steps to getting your funding
- Identify a capital purchase that will help advance your group
- Write a proposal
- Submit two hard copies of your proposal to the Dean's office in 3010MC and one soft copy to cuesef@engsoc.org
- Wait for a response from the chair on the success of your proposal
- If successful, pick up your cheque from the Dean's office
Opting-out
If you wish to, you may opt out from donating to CUESEF by visiting the Dean of Engineering's office and asking for a CUESEF Opt-Out form. This must be done before the last day for paying your student fees as laid out in the Undergraduate Calendar.
